Johannes Rudbeckius

The school was founded by Bishop Johannes Rudbeckius the Elder in 1623.

Sweden’s first upper secondary school, Rudbeckianska gymnasiet, is centrally located next to the Cathedral in Västerås. Here, new and old traditions live side by side with modern teaching methods.

 

Here you can choose programs and specializations and here you get the opportunity to find the forms of study that suit you. If you are interested in sports and culture, you have the opportunity to devote yourself to it. You can also join one of the school’s many associations.

Rudbeckianska gymnasiet is an upper secondary school run by the City of Västerås. With its 1300 students, it is the biggest upper secondary school in Västerås. It offers a wide range of education, providing most of the national theoretical programmes such as science, technology and social science, as well as a vocational programme in the field of child and leisure, with focus on teaching or social work. Västerås is a city with advanced technical industry as well as being a node for technical innovation and development. The school aims to be an integrated part of the city’s development working closely with the local university, University of Mälardalen, the city administration, and is in continuous contact with all parts of the local community. Rudbeckianska gymnasiet has an extensive exchange with other countries on all programmes, some externaly funded and some internaly.

We offer five high school educations: The Children and Leisure Program, the Humanities Program, the Natural Sciences Program, the Social Sciences Program and the Technology Program. In these programs there are also different specializations and profiles – so there is a lot to choose from.
